Job Title: Orchard Manager                                                              FLSA status: Exempt
Department:  Agricultural Operations                                               Reports To: President
 
Position summary: The Orchard Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, directing and supervising all orchard operations so as to produce and deliver to NFP plant the greatest volume of quality and size fruit cost effectively.
 
Position responsibilities:
  • Manages approximately 2,000 acres of company owned and leased orchards.
  • Plans and organizes priorities for efficient utilization of resources.
  • Develops long range plans for orchard operations.
  • Develops budges for orchard operations.
  • Works with personnel to encourage and develop career improvements.
  • Will take lead in developing orchard operation.
  • Remains current on labor regulations and trends, horticultural and production practices, pesticides and other technical applications.
  • Maintains orchards as an efficient and profitable operation.
  • Develops and maintains an effective organization through selection, training, leadership, motivation and coaching.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
 
  • Bachelors Degree in Agriculture or related field or at least five years of progressive experience in orchard operations plus five years of experience in orchard management.
  • High School Graduate / GED
Safety Responsibilities:
  • Safety is vitally important not only at our orchards but also from a personal standpoint. Employees are responsible for understanding and following all safety procedures.
Reporting to this position:
  • All orchard personnel and orchard management groups.
