Description
Position summary: Experience with screw compressors, reciprocating compressors, diverse in troubleshooting and repairing of numerous issues with large and small refrigeration systems components and controls. Controlled atmosphere environment for apple harvest storage.
 
Position responsibilities:
  • Experience with Ammonia refrigeration systems
  • Minimum 3 years field experience operating, maintaining, servicing, and commissioning industrial ammonia systems.
  • Requires strong mechanical knowledge and various components used in cold storage, food processing refrigeration systems, and controlled atmosphere storage rooms.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Experience repairing and maintaining reciprocating and screw compressors
  • Ability to troubleshoot systems and test components, using electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic testing equipment
  • Troubleshoot pump re-circulating systems and liquid transfer systems
  • Install wiring to connect components to an electric power source
  • Test lines, components, and connections for leaks
  • Commissioning/Start-up of ammonia refrigeration systems and components
  • Troubleshoot computerized refrigeration control panels and microprocessors

Essential skills and experience:
 
  • Reading, writing, numeracy, oral communication, problem solving.
  • Good driving record and be willing to travel within the surrounding areas to maintain, repair, and start up various industrial equipment and systems. Some overtime hours and on call duty is required.
 
Education and Experience:
 
  • High School Graduate / GED
  • RETA CIRO Certification (a plus)
  • Must have ammonia refrigeration background
SQF Requirements/Responsibilities:
  • Support SQF requirements by maintaining food safety plan and food quality through completing job tasks and maintaining the work area in a sanitary manner to ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, and Kosher product requirements.
  • Report food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action and or Food Defense issues to the Food Safety and Quality Department.
