Description:   As a member of a larger operations group, the Operations Supervisor manages a specific segment of plant production ensuring high standards of quality, yields, sanitation, and workforce development.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for high standards of quality, sanitation, and compliance with all GMP's.
  • Makes on the job training available to all employees to achieve successful results in the workforce development effort.
  • Through the effective utilization of the safety programs, maintains a high degree of safety awareness to reduce hazardous conditions and practices.
  • Motivates, trains, and encourages employees to take ownership of the process and to submit suggestions to enhance productivity and yields within their team.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and company policies to include OSHA, EEOC, AAP, EPA, etc.
  • Develops and maintains an effective organization through selection, training, leadership, motivation, and coaching.
  • Manages team activities to maximum yields and minimum waste or set-asides.
  • Other duties assigned as needed.
Organizational Relationship:
  • This position reports to the Operations Manager.  Reporting to this positions will be the Team employees that are in this Supervisor's specific segment of the plant.
Education and Experience:
  • Two years of college or equivalent experience in a food manufacturing environment is required.
  • 3 to 4 Years of progressive responsible supervisory experience preferably in a food manufacturing facility.
  • Knowledge of food processing regulations.
  • Good problem analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Planning, organizing, scheduling and monitoring work groups.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision..
 SQF Requirements/Responsibilities:
  • Support SQF requirements by maintaining food safety plan and food quality through completing job tasks and maintaining the work area in a sanitary manor to ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, and Kosher product requirements.
  • Report food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action and or Food Defense issues to the Food Safety and Quality Department.
Safety Responsibilities:
  • Safety is vitally important not only at our facility but also from a personal standpoint. Employees are responsible for understanding and following all safety procedures. Likewise, food safety is a key performance indicator. Understanding this, GMP and housekeeping procedures are to be followed as part of any job at our facility.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment requires mandatory use of ear plugs.
