ORCHARD GENERAL LABOR
 
National Fruit Orchards is looking for seasonal General Labor workers for its orchards located in the Shenandoah Valley.  These positions will start in March and work through the end of December.  

Position summary:  Plants, cultivates, and harvests field crops. Assist with apple collection and apple operations.
 
Position responsibilities:
 

• 1. Performs one or more of the following duties:
  2. Orchard care - grounds maintenance, orchard maintenance, harvest
  3. Operate a tractor and weedwhip.
  4. Identify common diseases and pest damage (training provided).
  5. Prune branches or thin flowers/young fruit.
  6. Harvest and store fruits.
  7. Store, and pack fruit for deliveries.
  8. Document orchard activities.
  9. Apple inspection
  10. Other duties as assigned.

Essential skills and experience:
 

• Reading, writing, numeracy, oral communication, problem solving.

 
Education and Experience:
 

• High School Graduate / GED

Safety Responsibilities:

• Safety is vitally important not only at our facility but also from a personal standpoint. Employees are responsible for understanding and following all safety procedures. Likewise, food safety is a key performance indicator. Understanding this, GMP and housekeeping procedures are to be followed as part of any job at our facility and orchards.
